Under the hood is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine producing 187 horsepower and 185 lb.-ft. of torque, teamed to a standard six-speed automatic gearbox featuring manual-shift and Sport modes. Front-wheel drive is standard and all-wheel drive is optional. EPA-estimated fuel economy is rated at 24 mpg city/31 mpg highway with front-wheel drive. With all-wheel-drive, those numbers drop slightly to 23 mpg city/29 mpg highway.*
Mazda has always been at the forefront of safety technology, so it’s no surprise it received a five-star overall safety rating from the NHSTA. Now a standard feature, Smart Brake Support keeps the driver and passengers safe by automatically activating the brakes if a low-speed collision is detected. The optional Traffic Sign Recognition system projects important information such as the speed limit onto the bottom of the windshield, eliminating the need to look at the gauge cluster. Other available safety features include adaptive cruise control, high-speed automatic braking and forward collision warning.
